These horses were taken in a seizure in Albemarle County. They seized 8 horses when the remains of a belgian gelding were found on the property with very thin horses and very little food. It was found that the hay that was there had been taken over by a neighbor. Their body scores range from a 2 (Very Thin) to a 5. Their ages from 1 to 20.
These horses are at the rescue and will be undergoing our vet evaluation, floating, vaccinations and a rehabilitation diet. Our costs to intake a horse are approximately $300 per horse for dental floats, vaccines and the first few weeks of care. Please consider a donation to help us take care of these horses. We can only do it with the help of people like yourself. Any size donation is welcome from $5 to $500.
In addition to the 6 that we brought to the rescue, Albemarle County’s temporary foster home opted to continue to foster two of the horses. We will be helping them out with the expense of their vet care and vaccinations and some supplies for getting them back on the road to recovery.
Please help us help them!
