BLM Mustangs
November 9, 2011 No CommentsWhile attending the Equine Extravaganza this year, we met and fell in love with BLM mustang yearlings. These yearlings had been gentled and halter trained by Mike Branch. The BLM was having an adoption at the EE and all of the mustangs were available for adoption.
We decided that if there were any that did not get adopted, we would bring them to the rescue to work with and find them homes. We all fell in love with one particular gelding. This little sorrel gelding had been gentled by a 16 yr old girl and was used in Mike Branch’s demos. He stood at the fence and mooched clover from everyone who passed by.
Our other choice was a tall, gangly gelding from California. He was quiet but shy. He looks like he will finish out at almost 16 hands. He is going to be a big boy when he grows into his legs. He has settled in nicely and is very sweet. He is easy to handle and we can already pick up all 4 feet.
Both of these boys are available for adoption. You will need to be approved by CVHR first and then by the BLM. BLM will re-assign our paperwork to you after approval. Mustangs make excellent trail horses and are sensible sane horses once they are gentled. They have also excelled at almost every discipline from dressage to working cattle. These boys have the advantage of being captured at a young age and are very easy to train.
The American mustang is in crisis. They are being gathered at record numbers and almost 40,000 are in holding facilities that are being paid for by our tax dollars. Mustangs are a part of our heritage and are basically a living legend. Wouldn’t you be interested in adopting a piece of American history?
