Update: Please see our update on Buddy below! He needs YOUR HELP!
Buddy is a local owner surrender. His owner had tried for months to sell him but couldn’t because he was a colt. Buddy was very lonely after his mother left and when the Amish buggy horses would go up the road, he would throw a fit. His only other option was to be taken to an auction.
Buddy is 11 months old and is very nicely put together. You can tell he is still growing as he has still got to grow into his nice quarter horse type rump! He has a nice little jog and seems to be a very sensible young man. One can hardly fault him for being lonely.
Buddy had one testicle that was twisted around the cord near the inguinal ring. It was a more complicated surgery than we expected. Our thanks go out to One Horse At A Time for their assistance with the cost of his gelding.
Buddy’s Initial sponsors helped pay for us to go get him and to have him gelded.

Buddy needs our help again!
In August of 2010, Buddy sustained an injury in the pasture where we believe he was impaled on a branch. We now know that this broke several ribs as well as causing a deep puncture wound that eventually abscessed. It healed up beautifully on the outside leaving no scar or swelling but has continued to fester on the inside into a basketball sized area of infection.
This is a very unusual case in that his wound healed up outside but abscessed on the inside. Outwardly Buddy was fine except for a recurring infection in his lungs. Six months after his initial injury, he developed an abscess on the outside again. This abscess might have saved his life because it caused us to look deeper at his original injury site.
Buddy is now at Virginia Tech Veterinary school awaiting surgery where they will remove the broken parts of his ribs and drain and flush the abscess. Buddy is fighting for his life but he remains bright, alert and hungry! If you would like to help Buddy, you can donate to his care. The estimate for his hospitalization, surgery and aftercare has been estimated from $4000 to $8000.
We are currently working on raising $4000. It does not look like we will be able to pay for it if it goes much higher than that amount! Please donate if you can, Buddy is not quite 2 yrs old and has his whole life ahead of him. He is a very sweet and loving young gelding and deserves a chance at life.
