Help CVHR

‎”A bone to the dog is not charity. Charity is the bone shared with the dog, when you are just as hungry as the dog.” – Jack London

Volunteer

‎”Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” – Elizabeth Andrew

There are many ways to volunteer with CVHRR.  We welcome help with the daily chores or with grooming and caring for the horses.  These types of on site help needs to be scheduled and farm volunteers will go through a short orientation.

Some other ways things we need help with:

  • fundraising
  • marketing
  • legal and bookkeeping
  • mailing
  • teaching

Sponsor a Horse

“If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.”  – Mother Teresa

At Central Virginia Horse Rescue, many of our  rescue horses have special needs. This means that the cost to feed and care for them is higher than normal. It can cost several hundred dollars per month to feed and maintain these horses.

By becoming a sponsor, you can direct your donation dollars towards the care and feeding of a companion horse of your choosing. Not only is this a great gift idea, but a wonderful program for school kids, church groups, and business organizations, so pick your special horse and become a part of this rewarding experience!

You can see the list of horses available to be sponsored here or you can sponsor one of our permanent residents.

Hi – I am currently located in NY and would be happy to consider volunteering my time to work with your organization on an extended time frame. However, I cannot afford to relocate at this time. If you have stable hand quarters, barracks, etc. where you can place me, that would be fine. Please let me know if this is in any way a possibility. Thank you.

I would like to have you have an auction on your Facebook page. I will DONATE and SHIP at my expense :

10 Collectible Trail of Painted Ponies Statues. I will try to pick the favorites. I will send you photos and complete descriptions & suggested worth/starting price. Unfortunately I haven’t got time to do an auction or keep inspiring people to bid.
I have donated several other ponies to other Horse Rescue Auctions and they have sold for $75- $100. each. If you put this many in one place..and get a link to it on Camelot Horse Weekly and we share it everywhere, I think you will see a feeding frenzy.
Perhaps you will not want our help: Mark and I Train and BREED Harness Race Horses. We are responsible Breeders and caring people. Our horses have better care ALL their lives than children. We have a $1, 000, BUY-BACK Anytime, Anywhere clause for each horse we place/sell. We donate 10% on each Racing Horse to charity: Breast Cancer Research, Veterans, New Vocations, Farm Aid, etc. It doesn’t matter what riding horse people think..MY horses LOVE to race and they LOVE to do it for me! It is their heritage..like dressage or jumping or pole bending. It is ashame the way many people on these Rescues Sites foolishly speak about Racing People and Breeders because Racing People/Breeders have the finances to support Rescues & want to. But they aren’t going TO EVER accept the BLAME for a majority of the horses at the killer auctions because it just isn’t true. People from each walk of life abuse/abandon horses. Truthfully, there are far more riding horse & pony types passing through than racehorses. People just attack Race Horse People because the horses are tattooed, so their owners can be discovered, sooner or later. Well-meaning critics are forgetting that our REAL & intial objective is to drain the swamp & save the horses. Killing the people with rhetoric who have the $$ means to really help is sad.
Off my soapbox now.. just had to clear the air about who I am and what I do, before I offered help.
We want you to HAVE that needed Truck :)

OMG! Kate, what a wonderful offer!! Thank you! I have no problem with people who breed responsibly and have a plan. It sounds like you do your share of giving back as well and to top it off, I LOVE Standardbreds. They are such wonderful horses.
