Central Virginia Horse Rescue focuses on finding homes for our horses.  This is our primary goal.  However, when we pull a horse from an auction or take in a surrender, that decision is based on the horse’s needs and often these horses are in need of expensive vet or farrier care before they can be adopted.  While horses reside here, they are given the care that they need.  Our vet costs have reached over $2000 per month several times in the last year.  Our feed costs for a month average over $1000. We receive approximately $300 a month in horse sponsorships and very few donations towards horse care. As you can imagine, we cannot operate at such a deficit for long.

Giving the horses the care they need puts a tremendous strain on our resources.  This strain means that needed repairs and improvements to the facilities here do not get made. In the past year, we have added another run in shed and put up 500 ft of needed  horse fence so that our horses will be safe.  Before we incorporated last year, we had replaced over 1000 ft of fencing.

In the coming year, we are going to be building another run in shed and making much needed repairs to the existing barn and run in shed.  The roof on both the main barn and our large run in shed needs repairs and painting.  And the main barn needs siding in several places.  We have fencing here that is old and rotten and needs to be replaced and paddocks that cannot be used because of the fencing.

As founder of the rescue, I have always felt that our supporters are a part of our team.  They are as important to the rescue as the volunteers and certainly as much a part as I am.  This program will make that a reality.

The horses will continue to take top priority.  By becoming a team member and adopting the rescue, you will help to not only take care of their needs but also to help improve the rescue so that we can continue to give them a safe place to heal.

Team members will receive a certificate of membership and our quarterly newsletter.  Rescue Heroes and Rescue Saints will also receive our latest T-shirt.  They will also receive a 10% discount on any CVHR store items.   Most importantly, team members will be a part of the larger equation.  You will not only be helping one horse but all the horses who come through our doors.    I hope that you will join our team.
