August 15, 2011 No CommentsMonet is a 12 yr old standardbred mare. She is a beautiful girl but she is totally blind. She is sweet and well adjusted to being blind but still not sure about having another horse close to her. Horses adjust well to being blind, given time and a safe environment.

Monet was an owner surrender that we accepted because we did not feel that she had many other options. She will most likely remain as a resident of the rescue. She has learned the perimeter of her paddock very well. She was ridden before she went totally blind and we understand that she knows voice commands. We may at some point try riding her to see her reaction and if it stresses her at all.
Monet would love to have some sponsors to help provide for her expenses. She is not a high maintenance horse but she cannot be turned out on pasture with the other horses. She will stay in her small paddock and get hay and grain daily. Sponsors agree to have an amount withdrawn monthly from their paypal account. These funds are used to care for the horse that is sponsored.
