As a special Valentine’s Day fundraiser, we are offering these special Valentines. Each Valentine is printed on glossy photo stock and will be mailed on February 10th unless you specify an earlier or later date.
Each card has a Valentine’s message and the cards all state that:
Central Virginia Horse Rescue has received a donation in your name.
Donors name will be handwritten on card and envelopes will be hand addressed and mailed in Valentine, VA for their heart shape postmark.
All donations will be used to replenish our general fund which pays for the feed, hay, farrier and vaccinations that our horses receive.
Our monthly expenses are averaging approximately $1875 per month right now with the cost of hay and grain increasing. We have reduced our adoption fees to try to find homes so that we can continue to help more horses.
As of today, we have 17 rescue horses here. Several are in various stages of adoption but are residing here until it is finalized. It averages out to just slightly over $100 per horse and that includes our senior, Karma, Rosebud and Tulip.
I did not include Tulip’s vet bills or Donnie’s in our monthly total as those are not ordinary costs and hopefully will not be a monthly event.
Just today, we took in a mare with a 6 month old colt at her side. The mare is bred back and is thin. She has not been fed quality hay or grain and is going to need additional nutrition for the remaining 6 months of her pregnancy. Her 6 month old colt is also thin and covered in rain rot. Both will need wormers, vaccinations, and farrier care.
As you can see, your donations are important. We can only help these horses with the continued support from our friends. Please help us to help the horses!
