The Leftover Minis
September 11, 2011 No CommentsFriday night at the NJ auction house, Camelot and 20 odd horses remained. Among these horses were several miniature horses. I’m not sure why they were left there waiting for homes and not scooped up by some family.
We are waiting for adoptions for a few of our adoptable horses and could not help with the regular horses so we decided to save the minis. We accomplished our goal in record time and had raised enough to save these two adorable little ones.
Brillo’s only two problems seem to be a really bad haircut and a need for feed. It won’t take his mane long to grow out and being a little guy, it shouldn’t take long to get him in good condition.
Our Roly Poly girl is adorable but needs some serious remedial foot care. Her feet have grown out and look like slippers. It will take time and attention to get them back to looking like hooves and not elf shoes. Her feet are not the worst I have seen but I believe that someone has begun to work on them.
Girlfriend will be giving up a bit of her feed until she is a tad less Roly Poly to protect her from laminitis. She will be kept on a dry lot where we can limit her diet.
If you would like to sponsor one of the minis, a full mini sponsorship is $50. You can be a partial sponsor for any amount up to $50 per month. Our horse sponsors help us to provide feed, vet care and farrier work for the horses while they are here.
